North West Shares Favorite Song 'Homecoming' and Music Aspirations

North West, the 13-year-old daughter of Kanye West, has shared that her favorite song from her father's acclaimed 2007 album, Graduation, is the reflective track "Homecoming," featuring Chris Martin. During a recent interview on EmWell's Well Well Well series, North, who performs under the name N0rth4evr, even sang part of the chorus, showcasing her budding musical talent. This revelation came after she reminisced about dressing as her father's Graduation-era bear mascot for Halloween in 2023, inspired by listening to the album.

The discussion extended beyond just one song, as North opened up about her family, her artistic endeavors, her fashion line, and her passion for makeup. She emphasized the significance of "Homecoming," a song that poetically expresses Kanye's love for Chicago, a city that holds deep meaning for both him and North, who was raised in Los Angeles but carries her father's Chicago roots.

The timing of North's choice is particularly poignant. Earlier this year, her label announced that she would make her festival debut at Lyrical Lemonade's Summer Smash in Chicago, placing her on stage in the very city that inspired her father's heartfelt tribute. Graduation remains a landmark album in hip-hop, having sold nearly one million copies in its first week and famously surpassing 50 Cent's Curtis in a notable sales battle that helped redefine the genre's sound.

In the interview, when asked about gratitude, North expressed appreciation for her family, highlighting her mother, Kim Kardashian, as a guiding force in her life. She described both her parents as supportive and kind, reflecting a close-knit family dynamic.

North also shared insights from her time spent in Japan with Kanye, where she attended daily studio sessions, which she referred to as "low key training." She revealed that her father encouraged her to practice rapping a cappella, a challenge she found difficult yet rewarding, contributing to her growth as an artist.

North's Evolving Musical Projects and Aspirations

Despite her artistic ambitions, North confirmed that a project titled after her father's debut, The College Dropout, is now shelved. She explained her desire to explore new sounds, leading to her current project, Grammar School Dropout, which she believes marks a significant improvement in her music. North also mentioned having two unreleased albums in the works.

Earlier this year, North released her debut EP, N0rth4evr, a six-track project that she produced herself, blending rap with elements of rock and emo. This release marks her first official foray into the music world, demonstrating her diverse musical influences and creative vision.

Album Reviews

In a revealing moment during the interview, North sketched a deer, symbolizing her stage identity. She expressed that deer represent purity yet face constant challenges, mirroring her experiences growing up under public scrutiny. North also shared her favorite color, lavender, as a way to stand out, and her aspirations in makeup and fashion, citing anime star Hatsune Miku as a significant style inspiration.

Her fashion project, Nory, is still in development, with North aiming for a special release, even if it takes time to perfect. When reflecting on her journey, she wrote a brief letter to herself, simply stating that she will improve, a testament to her determination and growth as an artist.
